Sub-topic: My Current Situation does not determine my final destination.
In order for you to not succumb to your environment you must first know who you are in Christ, and it is of great importance that you know your identity in Christ.
If the word succumb is confusing you, another word for succumb is yield or submit.
Let us use Joseph as an example, yes Joseph the dreamer boy. Joseph’s brothers had meant to do harm to him by throwing him into a pit and then selling him as a slave.
I cannot either because family is supposed to love and cherish you.
Joseph was now in an entirely new environment. I can only imagine everything being so different for him even the very language that was spoken. Life took a turn for Joseph, in fact life did not throw him lemons!
No, nope; Life decided to throw the entire lemon tree at him!!!
The thing that I admire best about Joseph is that even though his environment changed the God in him remained constant. His morals did not change, and we can see this in Genesis 39; when Potiphar’s wife started to desire Joseph and she wanted to have an affair with him, but Joseph stood his ground and said no he literally had to flee from her because he knew he could not sin against his God.
For most of us. Things might be different from what you have been dreaming about, your goals might be delayed, you may find that persons around you are plotting against you, wishing you all manner of evil, telling lies on you and persecuting you.
You may even find yourself in an uncommon territory a place where you are not used to, a school that you did not want to attend and a place where you have no friends or family; but you must remember that God has a plan.
Jeremiah 29:11 says
For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
You might not see the plan being manifested right now, but
Do not give up now, do not give in to your environment, keep pushing. Just like Joseph remember that your current situation does not determine your final destination. The favour of God is upon you; you just need to remain faithful to God and abstain from sin.
The promise is not that everything will be perfect. God did not promise us that the journey to fulfilling our purpose will be easy. But just know that God is able to bring you through everything.
Luke 1:37
For with God nothing shall be impossible
Not because your environment is changing means that you should too. Do not become bitter nor cold hearted. Stand firm in love and Patience. Better days are ahead!!
If you are still confused about your identity in Christ here are a few scriptures to help clarify.
1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Galatians 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
